Statement by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s MFA on Humanitarian Situation in the Gaza
.
The Islamic Republic of Iran’s MFA expresses deep concern over the worsening humanitarian catastrophe caused by the horrific crimes committed by the ZionistRegime in the Gaza Strip
It strongly condemns the continued killing of Palestinians alongside the deliberate deprivation of the defenseless people of Gaza of food, water, medicine, and other basic necessities
The Ministry calls for immediate, effective, and decisive action by the int'l community & regional countries to halt the genocide and alleviate the suffering of the oppressed Palestinian people
The ongoing inhumane blockade of Gaza, the brutal bombardment of refugee shelters, and the transformation of humanitarian aid distribution points into traps for mass killings of hungry and thirsty civilians all attest to the extreme cruelty and heartlessness of the apartheid Israeli regime and its supporters
The killing of over a thousand innocent people while they waited for food and the death of more than 600 due to starvation mark the height of the Zionist regime's savagery and constitute clear examples of war crimes and genocide. Currently, 90% of Gaza's territory has become uninhabitable, and 1.2 million residents are at imminent risk of death from extreme hunger
The UNSC's failure to fulfill its legal responsibilities in the face of the occupying regime's aggression and crimes, due to the US's persistent obstruction, has emboldened the regime and normalized its brutality. The comprehensive military, economic, and political support provided by the US and certain European countries, particularly #Germany, has not only granted the regime near-total impunity but has also paved the way for even more severe crimes aimed at implementing a plan of ethnic cleansing and the forced displacement of Palestinians
Those who support and justify the Zionist regime, especially the US, which not only supplies weapons and political backing but also uses all its tools to block accountability, are complicit in the regime's crimes and must be held responsible
Given the complete collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system and the occupiers’ prevention of food and medical aid from entering the territory over the past five months, Gaza now faces a full-scale humanitarian disaster. A genocidal plan is being executed in its most horrifying form by the most ruthless criminals
Every government & all int'l institutions with humanitarian missions, including the Human Rights Council, the Int'l Committee of the Red Cross, the WHO, and UNICEF, bear a legal and moral responsibility to take urgent and effective action to stop the Zionist regime’s crimes and end the suffering of the Palestinian people
This legal and moral responsibility is grounded in the UN Charter, int'l humanitarian law, especially the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols, and the Convention on the Prevention & Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which emphasize all states' obligations to ensure compliance with humanitarian norms and prevent genocide
The moral and religious duty of regional and Islamic countries is also clear. These nations must use all their capacities, particularly through the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the UN, to compel the supporters of the Zionist regime, especially the US, to halt these crimes. They must also facilitate the urgent delivery of essential aid, especially water, food, and medicine, to the Palestinian people & take action to prosecute and punish the Zionist criminals
The Islamic Republic of Iran, while reaffirming its principled stance rooted in int'l law in support of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, recalling the legitimacy of their struggle to free themselves from the yoke of the Zionist regime’s colonial occupation and apartheid, emphasizes the need for greater
solidarity among all free nations & Muslim countries to stop the colonial genocide in occupied Palestine
